The best thing to do for a flailing CW series like Melrose Place reboot is to cut out the fat. Useless, unwatchable fat. The CW says they’ve fired two of its cast members. The most notable being Ashlee Simpson. The network says the “Who Killed Sydney?” mystery is coming to an end and along with that, Ashlee’s career, unfortunately or fortunately. EW spoke to executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer who had this to say:

What was behind the decision to let Ashlee and Colin go?
TODD SLAVKIN: Well, we always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12. And we always knew that [Ashlee's] character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and [Colin's character of] Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way. That was the original plan going into the development of the show.

So it was always the plan for Ashlee to leave after episode 12?
SLAVKIN: Yes. Because we felt that once the murder mystery was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift into a much more fun, romantic, sexy upbeat kind of show, and [her] character would move on.

It was fun while it lasted, but not really. When I first saw that dead body in the pool, my first thought was, gee, who could the killer be? Maybe Ashlee? My second thought was, who programmed the DVR to record this? I’m gonna kick their ass.

Heather Locklear was on set for the first time to film scenes for her dramatic return to Melrose Place in the Melorse Place reboot. She looks fantastic. Keep in mind she’s 48. Pamela Anderson is 6 years younger yet she looks 6 times older and 6 times more heinous. Heather Locklear looks like a pretty flower. Pamela looks like a sarcophagus coughed her up. It’s almost as if Father Time is playing a cruel joke on one of these two. Can you guess which?

Evidenced by these pictures, Lisa Rinna was in the original Melrose Place and would very much like to be in the remake. A remake that has cast Ashlee Simpson and Katie Cassidy as the main characters, but has already lost Heather Locklear due to her not being convinced writers could justify her character.

Anyway, this is pathetic. Lisa might as well have changed the wording on the sign to read, “My dignity, have you seen it?” and danced in front of an empty hat where passersby could donate their unwanted change.
