Madonna made a career off of being wildly inappropriate. She even released a book called Sex in 1992 which included softcore porn. But now she’s 53 and she can’t do that anymore because it’d be gross so her new thing is all about love and peace and being not controversial.

That all changed, however, during the Super Bowl last Sunday when M.I.A. flipped the bird. Screams of horror were heard everywhere. One of which belonged to Madonna who was none too pleased with M.I.A. diverting attention away from her assisted cartwheels. She called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to discuss the incident,

“I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager … irrelevant thing to do … there was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point?”

I believe the point was that they told M.I.A. to censor “sh*t” so she just gave the finger instead. Madonna should have just come out and said what she was really felling. That why wasn’t anyone talking about her 15 minute self-indulgent performance? She didn’t break or hip or anything!

A couple days after giving the finger during the Super Bowl halftime show, reports are coming in that M.I.A. has split with her billionaire fiance Benjamin Bronfman. M.I.A. supposedly spends most of her time in London while Bronfman lives in New York with their 3-year-old son Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman. And it seems Bronfman has already moved on.

Bronfman looked like he was on a date last week when he was spotted at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem with a beautiful woman. NYDN

Asked for comment, M.I.A. gave the finger, once again sending the nation into a state of panic. Ahh! How do we stop this foreign devil?! Someone think of the children!

Before I get started, M.I.A. is a badass. If it wasn’t for her, the only thing people would remember about the Super Bowl halftime show was rickety old Madonna and her old lady knees trying to climb up a bench. Instead, they’ll now remember M.I.A. escaping the censors and flipping off 100 million viewers after singing “I’m gonna say this once/I don’t give a shh.”

For the most part, the half-time show was lukewarm at best. Does anyone really want to watch Madonna shufflin’ or a young Richard Simmons bounce up and down on a tightrope while Madonna bounces on a platform? The only highlight was M.I.A. being awesome and black Liberace wearing his faaaabulous supreme court justice outfit.

M.I.A. didn’t name her kid Ickitt: Incensed about the rumor that she named her kid Ickitt, M.I.A. wrote an impassioned denial on her MySpace. Well, M.I.A.’s son’s name was finally revealed to be Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman. So, really. Nothing like Ickitt at all and definitely not as stupid.

M.I.A. revealed the name of the baby boy she gave birth to on February 11 and if you thought it’d be something stupid, ridiculous or both, you’d be correct. She named him Ickitt. Possibly the easiest name to make fun of. Wickitt, icky, Ickitt pick it, lick it, punch you in the face, you’re going to die after school etc.

Granted, he’ll probably never feel the sting of peer humiliation because celebrities coddle their kids. Humiliation to them is only having a $3,000 per month allowance and no Bentley on their 16th birthday. And even if they do get made fun of, it’s only because the other kid’s dad gets paid to clean their toilets.

On Saturday, M.I.A. posted about the birth of her baby boy on her MySpace. She popped last Wednesday. Apparently when a woman gives birth, something snaps in their brain which causes them to type in all caps.

M.I.A. performed at the Grammy Awards on her due date as planned. She made it through her set without going into labor. Disappointing to say the least. At one point I was hoping her water would break causing Kanye West to slip which would set off a long look-at-me speech berating M.I.A. and telling everyone she planned this whole thing to make him look bad.
