White Power Ranger Jason David Frank, who made a “successful” MMA debut last month (video below), has challenged Jean-Claude Van Damme to an MMA fight.

Recognizing he needs a valid storyline for people to care, Frank says he’s still pissed about how Van Damme snubbed him at a Power Rangers movie premiere in 1995.

It was a damn Power Rangers movie premiere. Kermit the Frog would have snubbed Jason David Frank. Even I would have ignored the dude and I liked Power Rangers back then. If anybody asked me what I was doing there, I’d tell them I was taking my little brother… who’s in the bathroom and he’ll be done soon and what’s with all the questions, man! Is this an inquisition? God, this is so embarrassing.

Also, “successful” is in quotes because, although Jason won, it was unimpressive. White Power Ranger got rocked early on but managed to secure an omaplata after a sloppy takedown. [TMZ]

For most likely monetary reasons, whistle blower Jose Canseco agreed to enter Dream’s Super Hulk Tournament which took place yesterday. Armed only with his experience in Taekwondo he most likely learned as a kid and a loss he suffered to Danny Bonaduce in a celebrity boxing match, he faced off against the 7’2” K-1 fighter, Hong Man Choi, in the first round of the MMA super heavyweight tournament at the Yokohama arena.

In the beginning moments of the round, Canseco attempted to mount some sort of offense with an overhand right. Then he got on his bicycle and started backpedaling. Eventually, Canseco hurt himself trying to leg kick Choi and found himself on the ground being pounded on by the 330 pound monster.

Total fight time: a little over a minute. Amount paid for said minute: probably six figures. The expression on Canseco’s face as he desperately tries to tap out while being hammerfisted in the head: priceless.

Fun fact: The only training Canseco was rumored to be doing for this match was running on a treadmill. Guess what? It worked! Sort of.

Amanda Lucas, daughter of famed director George Lucas, fought her first MMA match in Auckland last Saturday. The 27-year-old fighter/actress lost by TKO to Nicole Kavanagh in the 160 lb. weight class. The bout is expected to be part of a reality tv series.

Princesses of Pain promoter Belinda Dunne said Amanda’s arrival created a buzz among martial artists but the billionaire’s daughter had fitted straight in.

She’s even staying at the same central Auckland backpackers’ lodge as her team-mates, despite being accompanied by her American bodybuilder fiancee.

“She’s staying in a hostel with six other girls. Eating the same food. She has not once been a prima donna about it,” Belinda told Sunday News.

Amanda also starred in the recent Star Wars trilogy.

She was dancer Diva Funquita and the voice of Trade Federation battleship communications officer Tey How in Episode I The Phantom Menace, Outlander Club patron Adnama (Amanda spelled backwards) in Episode II Attack of the Clones, and Senator Terr Taneel in Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

Dean Lister debuted strong showing his grappling game which was awesome. I fell asleep for a while during the Sanchez Alessio fight, but woke up to see Alessio defending the rear naked choke all while walking around with Sanchez on his back.

As predicted for the main event, Hughes dominated Gracie. Gracie was almost submitted with a kimura, but showed no pain and got out. That didn’t help much when Hughes got his back and pounded him till the ref stopped it.

This should probably be a wake-up call to Gracie. MMA has evolved to a point where he needs to adapt or just retire and teach.
