An LA Times story on UFC fighter Quinton Rampage Jackson last week riled up a bunch of internet warriors who called him a homophobe for calling SF, Vancouver and acting “kind of gay.” Even though he didn’t need to because it’s somewhat true, Rampage responded on his blog (via Movieline).

I am a black man from Memphis Tennessee who grew up in the south where I faced discrimination my whole life. I know very well how it feels for someone to judge you for something you have no control over so having gone through that I know how it feels. I took a vow that I didn’t even have to say that I would never discriminate against anybody for anything other that how they treat me or others around them. So not only DO I NOT HATE gay people, I actually accept them for who and what they are. They always seem happy and most of them I met are very kind and nice individuals. Yes, and like most straight guys I joke around with the whole gay thing and I see it as comedy, not saying that’s right or wrong but I don’t do it out of hate. I don’t hate fat girls but I make fun of them too.

When I did that interview I didn’t even know I was being interviewed. I was on the set of shooting the movie the A Team and my friend that worked on the set brought the interviewer to my trailer. As he did so, he made fun of me for a poster that was made of me promoting a UFC event at my homegirls bar in Vancouver. The poster was a picture of me with a rainbow flag on the poster somewhere. This girl has been a friend of mine for 7 years and never used me as a meal ticket and if I would die for one friend it was nothing for me to help a friend promote business. So I offered to help promote her bar not knowing that the poster would make its way back to the set and I would be made fun of for going to a gay bar. But I have to say that I visited her bar several times before this event. Not only did I enjoy myself but I was relieved that the guys at this bar did not hound me once. No one offered to buy me a drink. Not once did anybody try to take pictures with me with their arms all around me or do the what I call the ‘prom date picture’.. taking a picture while holding your lower back.. which is my pet peeve by the way.

Honestly I mean this in the best way, me being a sports figure I attract a lot of male attention wherever I go and MOST straight fans act GAYER than any guys that was at this gay bar that I visited my homegirl at. When I’m in the club guys always offer to buy me drinks, do the prom date picture, stare at me, try to get my attention, tries to dance with me.. even if I’m dancing with a hot chick already. Even though I love ALL MY FANS, this can be overwhelming sometimes, especially when I’m trying to unwind and have fun which in my line of work you don’t get much time to do.

This being said, when I did this interview the interviewer witnessed my friend giving me shit and calling me gay. I was so embarrassed and didn’t want my ego tainted because I’m a big tough fighter. So yes, I got quite defensive and I’m known to be the best shit talker in my business and a fighter in all aspects in life. So I made fun of him back, calling him gay. Only reason why I got a bad report from it was because this guy who was making fun of me and has been my friend on set for about four months (time spent working on the movie) and was gay for real and the reporter being the type of guy he is chose to make THAT his story not knowing that the guy and I were only shit talking like we did everyday. OR DID HE KNOW WE WERE SHIT TALKING OR NOT AND JUST WANTED A HOT SCOOP?

I like how people always say they aren’t homophobic or racist and either point to the fact that they have gay or black or gay and black friends. In this case, Rampage goes a little further and says he’s the furthest thing from a bigot because he’s always hanging out at gay bars. Then he calls some of his fans gayer than the gays at the gay bars. Also, he makes fun of fat chicks too so it’s not like gay jokes are the only jokes he makes. He’s an equal opportunist.

You can learn a lot from the Rampage line of defense. If I’m ever famous and am accused of being homophobic because of my gay jokes, I’ll take a note from Rampage and say I can’t be a homophobe because I stick my penis in dudes all the time. Then I’ll call all my fans gay retards. When a reporter asks, “doesn’t having sex with guys make you gay?,” I’ll yell, “Who are you calling gay, huh, fag?!,” and then I’ll punch him in his stupid, gay face for calling me gay. Because I may be a lot of things, but there’s one thing I’m not and that’s gay. I should really go into PR.

I know this will come as a shock to you but MMA fighter/professional ass-kicker Quinton “Rampage” Jackson takes exception when you call him gay. Jackson also thinks acting is kind of gay.

The LA Times did a story on Jackson since he’s in this summer’s A-Team movie. They talk about a gay slur incident, how Rampage is the perfect Mr. T and how UFC president Dana White was pissed when he ditched a fight with Rashad Evans in Rampage’s hometown of Memphis to star in the film. Pride of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a former light-heavyweight champ (he was scheduled to fight May 29 for the title in Las Vegas) — a guy whose day job consists of beating the toughest men in the world into either submission or unconsciousness — Jackson stood in the middle of his trailer spewing invective with a glint of real menace in his eye.

At issue: a movie crew member had wandered in on this final day of principal photography and — whether jokingly or not — called the muscle-bound movie star a homophobic epithet. Jackson had responded with barely contained fury. He threw the guy out, shouting him down with every conceivable gay slur. “You’re a punk!” Jackson finally bellowed.

He claimed the crew member’s intent had been to provoke a physical assault. “That … wanted me to punch him so he could sue me,” the professional body-slammer explained, using a certain 12-letter curse word that he lets fly often in conversation — a word that has no business appearing in a family newspaper and, for the sake of this article, will here on out be substituted with “individual.”

But the outburst seemed to also prompt Jackson, 31, to wrestle with other issues: his experiences in Western Canada, his choice to take time out of the octagon (as the UFC’s fighting ring is known) and how his stardom in “The A-Team,” Fox studios’ tent-pole adaptation of the ’80s action-comedy series that’s due in theaters June 11, might affect his fighting career.

“Acting is kind of gay,” Jackson said. “It makes you soft. You got all these people combing your hair and putting a coat over your shoulders when you’re cold. I don’t want a coat over my shoulders! I’m a tough-ass [individual]!

“Vancouver strikes me as a San Francisco-kind of place,” he continued. “And I don’t want [individuals] getting ideas about me. I feel in my heart I’m the toughest [individual] on the planet. And I don’t want nothing changing my train of thought. If you don’t believe that when we step inside the octagon, it shows.”

I can see how Rampage would be uncomfortable being called gay. According to him, he’s a hard ass mother fucker. In my experience, people who think of themselves in that way don’t even like to be jokingly called gay. I don’t know what the crew member was thinking. Rampage punches people for a living. He punches them hard. That guy is lucky half his face didn’t go missing after Rampage’s fist went through it.

Christ. How creepy is the interviewer? It looked like at any moment his mouth was going to split open like a snake to eat one of the actors. He’s like one of those people that would creepily place their hand on Jessica Biel’s knee.

In this awkward excerpt from an interview with CagePotato correspondent, um, I don’t know her name, but let’s call her You Chose Wisely for now, Quinton Jackson does what Quinton Jackson does best. Make everyone extremely uncomfortable.

Jackson, as you may remember, went on a rampage in a lifted truck in Newport Beach last year. He blamed it on fasting while subsisting only energy drinks. He also said God was talking to him.

Anyway, he dry humps the hell out of this reporter. It might even go a little beyond awkward. Past the point of a polite chuckle and into “thank god she’s not wearing a dress” territory. Also noteworthy is how everyone either doesn’t get or chooses to ignore Quinton’s sexually charged “Am I in yet?,” comment. Like things aren’t already uncomfortable enough.

Seeing this, they should really make Rampage wear a condom before every interview or at least provide reporters with a free pregnancy test kit. It’s the least they could do. Quinton is like if Pepe Le Pew took on human form and actually caught that cat.

Three weeks ago Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was arrested for felony hit and run after he hit a car with his monster truck and led police on a chase through Newport Beach. He ended up hitting two or three more cars during his “rampage” — bwahahaha — before blowing out his tire and being surrounded by police.

One of Quinton’s hit and run victims was 16 weeks pregnant Holi Griggs. On Friday, it was discovered that Holi had suffered a miscarriage. No charges have been filed against Jackson as of yet, but

“Our office will make sure we take as much time as necessary to make a proper filing decision and including all evidence and medical information to make sure any charges that are filed are fair and accurate,” Dist. Atty. spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.

Griggs was unavailable for comment Friday. Her fiance, Bill Krebs, said doctors were immediately concerned when they noticed a significant loss of fluid in Griggs’ womb after the accident. Days before the crash, the couple had visited the doctor for an ultrasound, and Griggs was told she “had enough fluid for three babies,” Krebs said. She was pregnant with a boy.

Her fiance, Bill Krebs, said “No amount of money will bring back my son.” Not to be an ass, but it’s possible $3 million or more might do it. Cloning has come a long way.

Meanwhile, other sites are reporting that this all started when Quinton lost his contact lens. While he was fumbling around trying to find it, he sideswiped two vehicles and, paranoid, fled the scene and subsequently, led police on a short chase. Because that’s what normal person would do. Who hasn’t taken their eyes off the road while driving a monster truck in order to find a lost contact? Those things aren’t exactly cheap.

One day after leading police on a chase through Newport, Rampage was arrested again. But this time not at gunpoint! Improvement? I think so.

Sources say around 4:30 PM yesterday, friends who were hanging out with Rampage, waved down an Irvine police car after they were worried about his behavior.

We’re told Irvine cops saw Rampage, deemed him a danger to himself and others, and took him to a hospital for observation. Rampage was very coopertive with police.

Cops won’t officially confirm if it’s a psychiatric hold.

I hate it when my friends try to be funny and flag down cops to tell them they’re worried about my behavior. You jokesters you. Just wait till I get out. I’m not saying I’ll tie you up and rape you with an ice cream scooper, but I’m not saying I won’t either.

More details about the Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s arrest surfaced today. The recently dethroned UFC champion hit two cars on the 55 freeway in the O.C. and got off. He then drove on the center divider and then the sidewalk causing people to “flee for their lives.” He then drove the wrong way down a crowded street and hit another car. His brand new Toyo tires then blew, but that didn’t stop him. He continued driving on his rims. TMZ continues:

Rampage eventually got to the exclusive Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where he again drove on the sidewalk, “causing pedestrians to flee in terror.”

Eventually, his car came to a stop and he was taken into custody at gunpoint. Cops took him to the Orange County Jail, but they determined he was “medically unfit” to be booked. Cops won’t say if he was high.

In his defense, GTA on a flat screen doesn’t compare to real life. In the real world, it’s all hi-def, baby!

Trivia: Only recently, in the past few years, did he become a born again Christian.

To the uninitiated, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is the former light heavyweight UFC champion who lost the belt two weeks ago to Forrest Griffin. He also owns an Audi R8 and a “lifted truck” with his picture painted on the side.

Today, he crashed into a car with the truck in Newport Beach and led police on a high speed chase hitting at least three more cars and blowing his tire before he stopped at the exit onto Newport Boulevard. Rampage has been charged with felony hit and run and felony evading arrest.

Please be reminded that his truck has his picture painted on the side. The only way he could have gotten away with this is if he managed to evade capture and painted a ski mask over his face. The cops would never figure that one out.
