Back in January, Russell Crowe was well on his way to transforming into George Lucas. In other words, he was turning into a sweaty fatass. Thankfully for him, those comparisons to that terrible director who ruins movies have now stopped. Looks like Russell started working out and using portion control and he’s back to where he was before he discovered the Christina Aguilera diet, or, as I like to call it the BCD (before cookie dough) era.

Did you know Russell Crowe is on Twitter? It’s amazing because you can set him off without having to worry about a telephone being thrown at your head or being punched in the face.

The other day the topic of circumcision came up in Crowe’s Twitter feed. Someone asked him whether or not to circumcise his newborn son. Feeling impassioned, Russell tweeted back,

- Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect

Then this morning he tweets an apology and his previous tweets disappear.

PR reps. Sheesh. Can’t they ever let a guy speak freely about baby foreskin without getting all up in their grill? If it’s not “you’ll get bad publicity” this, it’s “you shouldn’t be talking about baby penises on Twitter” that.

Russell Crowe did an interview with Mark Lawson of BBC Radio 4′s Front Row where he remarked that Crowe’s accent in Robin Hood had a hint of Irish in it and asked what he was thinking of.

Crowe laughed off the question with grace and dignity. Just kidding. Crowe replied, “You’ve got dead ears, mate. You’ve seriously got dead ears if you think that’s an Irish accent.”

Lawson then got scared and said he only heard “hints” of Irish making Crowe angrier. Crowe said “bollocks” to Lawson and probably was searching for a telephone to throw at him.

Crowe returned to explaining the origins of Robin Hood but came back to the Irish thing. “I’m a little dumbfounded you could possibly find any Irish in that character. That’s kind of ridiculous. It’s your show. Whatever.”

Lawson asked, “So you were going for a northern English?” To which Crowe responded, “No, I was going for an Italian, yea. Missed it?” Burn!

Crowe then left but not before harping on the Irish comment again. “I don’t get the Irish thing brother, I don’t get it at all…”

To be fair, implying Crowe had an Irish accent is kind of insulting since his job is to act. It’s like Crowe asking if Mark Lawson sounded so monotonous on the radio on purpose or asking why the stripper giving you a lap dance looks at you with such soulless eyes.

Giving Russell Crowe a sword, even a prop sword, is like giving a tiger a laser gun. If they’re going to do this, they might as well start poking Russell with a stick to speed up the ensuing carnage.

Russell Crowe is angry over the rumors that he’ll play his friend Steve Irwin in a biopic.

“I’m not doing business over the grave of my friend. I find that appalling. But, you know, that’s not just in the tabloid[s]. That’s in The Guardian, its in The New York Times. Understand? Absolutely disgusting.”

Crowe also touched on his frustration over the media’s unwillingness to let his phone beating incident go.

“I think — I think it’s rotten to the core. I think it’s full of a whole bunch of people who write late into the night while drinking themselves into oblivion. And I think it’s a very nasty situation that we’ve got ourselves in the world, where you cannot go to a news source and reliably be told the truth.”

Whoa. No need to throw a hissy fit. Please stop punching me, I just ask the questions. What are you doing with that telephone? Ahhh!
