Like some sort of gay, show tune-singing Voltron, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ryan Murphy are combining their powers of dance and song and collaborating again. This time on a musical movie. Maybe.

“We want to do a musical together,” Murphy told me at the Emmys. “An original—I want to write an original movie for Gwyneth and Maya Rudolph, both of whom I’m great friends with.”

He smiled, “That’s all I will say.” — E!

This will no doubt bring joy to the hearts of every Glee fan who have long asked themselves, “why hasn’t this already happened?!,” as they attempt to push their way out of the trash can they’re stuffed in.

The current cast of Glee will be graduating which means every character will be replaced except for Matt Morrison and Jane Lynch. Show creator Ryan Murphy has deemed it so. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Murphy says the 2012 class will leave and never come back.

“That is true. I don’t think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are incredibly talented. They’ve left sort of an indelible mark.

“The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline.”

We’ve got Matt Morrison and Jane Lynch who will stay and be the male and female lynchpins of the series. But I think the fun thing about the show is it’s a celebration of youth and talent and I think that just like with the original cast, I think finding those young unknown people and giving them an opportunity to break into the business and become stars is a really fun and exciting thing and is the spirit of the series.” [StarPulse]

I don’t watch this show so I don’t know if this is good or bad but I think we should auto-tune all of the songs. I hear auto-tune is all the rage these days. Kids love it. (Said in the voice of an exec who came in late to the meeting)

Kings of Leon’s drummer, Nathan Followill, decided to respond to Glee producer Ryan Murphy calling them assholes by tweeting, “Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7yr olds how to say fuck.”

It was a nice way of telling Ryan to stop whining like a bitch but people took it in the homophobic way because Ryan just so happens to be gay. Nathan ended up deleting the tweet and apologizing. “I’m sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or misogynistic. I’m so not that kind of person. I really do apologize.”

What a wimp. His next post should be, “quit whining you homos.” I think that would be a good way to get people to shut up. He should do it. I have a good feeling about this.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy is a sensitive man. He asked Kings of Leon to use their song “Use Somebody” on the show but when they said no, he felt they insulted him and basically slapped the face of arts education. Via Us:

“F*** you, Kings of Leon,” Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter. “They’re self-centered a**holes, and they missed the big picture.”

Charging that the band insulted his FOX smash with a “hate on arts education” message, he continued angrily: “They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It’s like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of Glee all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music.”

Kings of Leon responded:

“This whole Glee thing is a shock to us. It’s gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn’t even see the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting ['Use Somebody']. This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee or to music education or to fans of the show. We’re not sure where the anger is coming from.”

At that point, the members of Kings of Leon backed away slowly because Ryan Murphy sounds mental. Calm down, you psycho. It sounds like they raped Ryan’s dog or something. I’m surprised Ryan didn’t chase them down while swinging a tasseled baton menacingly in the air while simultaneously crying/yelling, “Why! Why would you do this to me?!”

Backstage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Anne Hathaway went up to Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy on her way to the bathroom and pitched an episode she thought of for the show guest starring herself.

“She wants to play Chris Colfer’s lesbian aunt. She presented the whole episode. She came up with the songs,” said Ryan. He added, “I love her and would definitely be interested.”

And just like that, it’s confirmed. Anne Hathaway will make a guest appearance on Glee. Because when Anne Hathaway pitches a show to you, you just don’t say no.

For some reason, this trailer made me laugh. It’s directed by Ryan Murphy who also does Nip/Tuck. It has a somewhat interesting cast which includes Annette Bening, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jill Clayburgh, Brian Cox, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Rachel Wood and Alec Baldwin and an interesting plot.

Young Augusten Burroughs (Cross) absorbs experiences that could make for a shocking memoir: the son of an alcoholic father (Baldwin) and an unstable mother (Bening), he’s handed off to his mother’s therapist, Dr. Finch (Cox), and spends his adolescent years as a member of Finch’s bizarre extended family.

I don’t know if I’d necessarily pay money to watch it, but it looks like it has some potential.
