Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow were on Howard Stern’s Sirius show on Thursday when the subject veered towards a comment made by Heigl in 2007 in which she chided Knocked Up, the movie that made her a star, for being unfair to women and claimed that it “paints the women as shrews” and the mean as “lovable.” Apatow was a little more reserved than Seth in the Heigl bashing.

During the interview, Rogen called out Heigl for her new movie The Ugly Truth which was just released saying “That [movie] looks like it really puts women on a pedestal in a beautiful way.” Apatow added, “I hear there’s a scene where she’s wearing… underwear… with a vibrator in it, so I’d have to see if that was uplifting to women.”

Still, Apatow figured she had been doing “six hours of interviews and kissing everyone’s ass” and got tired and slipped. Rogen responded, “I didn’t slip and I was doing fucking interviews all day too.. I didn’t say shit!” Seth said most of what Heigl said doesn’t even make sense because she “improvised half her shit.” He also quipped, “I gotta say it’s not like we’re the only people she said some batshit crazy things about. That’s kind of her bag now.”

If you’re wondering what other dumbass remarks Heigl has made, just look to last week when Heigl complained on Letterman about the long hours she was forced to work on during a recent shoot for Grey’s Anatomy.

“Our first day back was Wednesday and it was — I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them — a seventeen-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean.”

Turns out it was Heigl is responsible for making everyone work a seventeen-hour day because producers were nice enough to accommodate her schedule. From NYMag:

Poor Katherine Heigl. What she neglected to add was this: This “cruel” shooting schedule was only to accommodate HER and her needs. The producers graciously shuffled things around so she could go off and do promotion for her new film. Also, with union rules, the producers had to pay a ton of overtime and penalties to make this happen. The thanks they get is Katherine Heigl going on national television hoping to embarrass them.

I know how Heigl feels. It’s like that time I was rescued from a prison camp by the Navy SEALS. I went on national TV and told everyone about how they didn’t even bring me a granola bar to snack on during the long and grueling helicopter ride home. What a bunch of  dicks.

Pineapple Express, the stoner comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, set a new record for the biggest Wednesday opening of August. The film earned $12.15 million on its first day of release. The previous record was held by The Princess Diaries 2 with $8.5 million. Sony Pictures was more than surprised at the higher than expected Wednesday take.

“I don’t think anyone expected an R-rated comedy to post such a strong number on a Wednesday,” Sony Pictures spokesman Steve Elzer said. “We were caught completely by surprise and hope it’s an indication that the best has yet to come as we head into the weekend.”

Paul Dergarabedian of Media by Numbers summed up the impressive opening with a simple equation, “Apatow, plus R-rating, plus August equals hit.” Other infallible equations Paul has come up with include: “The Dark Knight, plus Heath Ledger death equals box office gold,” “Robert Downey Jr., plus iron suit equals awesome,” and “Broadway musical, plus film adaptation equals so totally gay.” Thanks Paul. Einstein would have been proud.

Seth Rogen is currently penning and will most likely star as the titular character in the film adaptation of The Green Hornet set to be released in summer 2010. Although a director has yet to be chosen, executives already have a few ideas on who should play Kato, a role made famous by Bruce Lee. A tipster wrote to AAM.

This week is the big Licensing Show in NY.

I can’t tell you what industry I’m in, but we met with a studio this week to discuss possible licensed products for an upcoming Green Hornet film. Now, I must preface this by saying the film is still being written, so things can change, but what I’m relating to you is what was presented to a group of 12 of us (from several different companies) by the studio executives.

The Green Hornet will star Seth Rogan as The Green Hornet. He will be totally inept, a bit like Inspector Cleuso . Kato will actually be the hero, but he saves everyone, including The Green Hornet, without TGH ever realizing its not he himself doing it.

So this is where it gets interesting, I will refer to the executives as executive 1 and 2, and the potential licensors as PL 1, 2, and 3:

PL1: So who would play Kato?

Executive1: We’re thinking a Chinese actor, possibly Rain.

PL2: Rain isn’t Chinese.

Executive1: No, I think he is (looks at Executive2 who is nodding in agreement)

PL2: No, I’m actually positive he isn’t. He’s Korean.

Executive2: Well, he’s one of those. That’s just one option.

Executive1: The other option is, get ready, Will Smith!

PL3: Will Smith? Will Smith isn’t Asian.

Executive1: (Bursting with excitement) I know, that’s the twist!

The meeting then went one to discuss an upcoming live action / CGI Smurf movie involving an interdimensional portal and an abusive Father.

The writer’s strike has really messed up Hollywood.

Just wanted to share that.

Sure, they could stay true to the popular tv show and get an Asian actor to play the part, but, dude, Will Smith. He’s, like, so totally dreamy and ladies love him. He’ll revitalize Kato. They can change his back story as well. Instead of Britt Reid aka Green Hornet saving him in the “Far East”, he could save him from an inner city gang. Most likely in Compton. It’ll be so touching or, rather, dope as the kids say. Kids still say that, right? Whatever. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? They should do this to all movies. Like, that Sex and the City movie should have starred Britney Spears and instead of wearing designer clothes and talking about sex, they should have just filmed her sitting, eating KFC, scratching her ass and burping. What a twist!

Capitalizing off the popularity of Sarah Silverman’s “Sarah Silverman is Fucking Matt Damon” music video and Jimmy Kimmel’s resulting video, “Jimmy Kimmel is Fucking Ben Affleck,” Kevin Smith produced his own starring Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen to promote his new movie, “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.” It’s appropriately titled, “Elizabeth Banks is Fucking Seth Rogen.” Despite it’s lack of star power, it still has Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen which makes it instantly better than Sarah Silverman’s.
