Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie, ran into technical difficulties while trying to do the live long and prosper Vulcan salute. Aww, crap. I need to kick my own ass after writing that.

Sources say Quinto couldn’t train his fingers to do the “V” even when he tied rubber bands around them. Eventually, J.J. Abrams “glued Zachary’s fingers together during filming.”

This may be another thing devout Star Trek fans may find issue with. It’s a slap in the face for a man to play Spock and not be able to do the Vulcan sign naturally. I wouldn’t worry too much though. Based on my stereotypes of Trekkies, it’s also dishonorable to have sex with their Seven of Nine real doll without first professing their love to it in Klingon.

Alone by herself with no one standing next to her to compare to, Hayden Panettiere looks decent. Not like that troll she always looks like. Take here at the Star Trek premiere for example. She doesn’t look like a child prostitute at all. That’s complimentary, right? Mommy said I should be nicer to celebrities.

After 21 years together, George Takei, 71, and Brad Altman, 54!, were finally wed by a Buddhist priest on Sunday at the Japanese American National Museum.

Altman said that he had called Takei many things during their two decades together — “life partner, significant other” — but that their marriage represented “a dream come true for me.”

“I can add ‘my husband’ to the list of things I call you,” he said.

Takei called his longtime partner an “organized, detail-obsessed, punctuality-driven control freak.”

This is a great day! For me. Because now my friends can’t deny it when I say Star Trek is so totally gay.

Matt Damon, who my friend affectionately refers to as hairy crack Matt, has captured the interest of J.J. Abrams. So much so that Abrams is looking to cast Damon as a young Captain Kirk in the Star Trek movie he’s directing and producing. Abrams is so serious that he even went as far as asking William Shatner, the original Captain Kirk, for his blessing which he indeed got.

The new Star Trek movie is said to center on Kirk and Spock’s early days in the Star Fleet Academy. So all you fans, dust off those uniforms, set your phasers on stun and glue on those Spock ears so you can once again hold your head up high as you brave through all the ridicule. Then when you get out of your parents’ house, go meet up with your fellow Trekkies to be ostracized one more time.
