A film critic from the Miami Herald pointed out something interesting about Martin Scosese’s The Departed. Apparently, Scorsese scattered X’s, symbolizing impending doom, throughout the movie paying tribute to Howard Hawk’s Scarface. The guy has a lot more screen shots here.

This has inspired me to pay tribute to Fight Club if I ever meet Paris Hilton. Remember the part where Tyler Durden says, “I want you to hit me as hard as you can.” Well Paris, wish granted.

Martin Scorsese has got another hit. The Departed was the #1 movie at the box office over the weekend making $27 million. It beat out future classics such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Dane Cook’s Employee of the Month.

An inquisitive reporter asked Dane why people should even watch his movie. He said his movie had Jessica Simpson’s boobs. He then started to say “boobs” louder and louder until he heard someone laugh. That wasn’t a laugh Dane, that was me farting.

In related news, Andy Lau, the actor from Infernal Affairs which The Departed is a remake of, gave Martin Scorsese’s new movie an 8 out of 10.

Lau thinks ”the effect of combining the two female characters in the original into one isn’t as good as in the original,” according to Tam [Andy Lau's spokeswoman].

She also said the veteran Hong Kong actor contrasted his approach to his role with Damon’s.

”He said he focused on his character’s psychology, and that the character didn’t look like a bad guy on the surface,” Tam said, whereas Damon’s portrayal showed his character as an obvious bad guy.

Jack Nicholson is too horny for his own good. During filming for The Departed which is, surprise, surprise, a remake of the Asian film Infernal Affairs, he convinced Martin Scorsese to put in a scene of him in a threesome and a strap on.

“I thought it would be more frightening if my character had a sexual component . . . so I called Marty up and said, ‘Look, I just thought of what would be an interesting scene of [my character] having wild sex. And in this scene with two girls, one of the girls is wearing a strap-on’ . . . This was my idea and improvisational, and Marty went for it.”

I’ve seen this movie and nowhere is there a sex scene. Kudos to Jack for already defiling a good movie. His reasoning for a threesome was to make his character more frightening… That’s exactly what someone does to instill fear in people. It’ll scare them shitless. I can’t remember how many times guys have pissed their pants when they’ve caught me sandwiched between two strippers.

The only way I would be frightened is if Jack did full nudity and I found out at that instant I couldn’t move my legs because they were asleep. I’d probably start screaming like an 8 year old girl after a boy with cooties kissed me. Cooties are icky.
