Gwyneth Paltrow backpeddles

Gwyneth is “deeply upset” over stories of her anti-American comments. In hopes of calming everyone down, she says:

“First of all I feel so lucky to be American. When you look at the rest of the world, we’re so lucky, and that’s something my dad always instilled in me. I feel so proud to be American.”

“This is what I said. I said that Europe is a much older culture and there’s a difference. I always say in America, people live to work and in Europe, people work to live. There are positives in both,” says the actress, adding, “Obviously I need to go back to seventh-grade Spanish!”

After she gets the “I’m proud to be an American. America is so great.” speech out of the way she goes and stereotypes England and America. I’m not sure how that helps, but Gwyneth is full of contradictions anyway. If I could just attribute everything she says to her being blond I would. Since that’s not the case, someone should really give that bat thing a try.
