In a recent interview with Jeanne Wolf, Cameron Diaz described the last two years of her life as hell. She also talked about the insurmountable prejudice against pretty people in the industry.
“If a woman who’s a successful actress weighs 300 pounds and has warts, nobody ever asks her, ‘Do you think you made it because you’re ugly?’ So why should there be prejudice against someone who’s had some success in films and looks a little better than average. It’s all in my genes, so don’t hold it against me.”
In a way, Cameron makes sense. I know I’ve been discriminated against for my beauty. And I don’t mean, “oh, he’s handsome” beauty, I mean “nice to meet you, please stop grabbing my crotch, it really hurts” beauty. One thing bothers me though. Who keeps letting Cameron Diaz in the pretty people club? Did she sneak in through the doggy door again? She’s persistent, I’ll give her that. She even got past the broken glass I sprinkled on the floor.
