Salma Hayek wanted a son

Salma Hayek recently gave birth to a baby girl with her fiance, François Henri Pinault. Which made it sort of awkward when Salma told Glamour Magazine that she was really hoping for a son when she was pregnant with her daughter.

EE: What has surprised you most about being a mother?
SH: Well, I have to confess something–I wanted a boy.

EE: Really?
SH: At the beginning I did. Probably because I was afraid. I think women suffer a bit more than boys, and there is always conflict between mothers and daughters. But now that she’s here, I’m so happy she’s a girl. And I can’t imagine there ever being conflict between us, because I’m in a state of innocence where I love everything she does. If she does a poop and I have to change the diaper, I love that moment!

I give her credit for making a stunning recovery, but still, that’s a good way to give your kid some issues. That came out of nowhere too. It’s like asking, “What did you do this weekend?,” and instead of, “I went snowboarding,” you get a long story about how your interviewee picked up a hooker and donkey in TJ and came back with weird bumps on his penis and, “Hey, could you take a look and tell me what you think it is?” That’s about when you should politely nod your head, throw your notebook in their face and run away.
