Mackenzie Phillips of One Day At A Time fame will be on Oprah today to talk about her past drug addiction, how her father John Phillips, of the band the Mamas and the Papas, raped her and how that eventually became consensual. I believe the last two are the biggest shockers.
“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a heavy drug user at the time. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”
“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.
“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”
Phillips’ life began to spiral out of control. In 1980, she was fired from One Day at a Time because of her constant drug use. That same year, she went to rehab – with her father. She even toured with him in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas. Her sexual relationship with him had become consensual. [PEOPLE]
Had John not died, he should probably be strung up to a tree by his genitals for at least a week, but it’s interesting how Mackenzie almost makes excuses for him by saying he was “full of love.” If I had a heart, I’d be full of love too. That doesn’t mean I’m going to go around and stick my dork in people after pumping them full of pills.

Did he abuse her?Maybe she was conditioned from an early age,thus this behavior became the norm for her.Like “Stock Holm Syndrome”.She should not be blamed or punished for this,as her father was a sick man!!! Why does everybody always have to humilliate someone just to serve their own means? People this is very rude and wrong!!! Until you step into their shoes you cannot possibly understand what someone else is going through! And I’m totally sure that you have some skeletons in your closet too !!!Why complain about the sliver in your neighbors eye,when you have a log in your own? A little understanding toward others can make a much nicer world to live in! Try it sometime…………..It Works!!!
