Jesse James was abused as a kid

In Jesse James’ Nightline interview that aired on Tuesday, he basically made excuses for why he cheated on Sandra Bullock. Jesse said he was a “terrorized kid” and that his father would beat him. Jesse’s father, however, denies his claims.

“I was petrified of my dad … It wasn’t so much getting the sh– beat out of me or getting my arm broken or getting kicked or whatever or punched, it was the in-between time. It was the fear of that happening again.”

This led to self-esteem and abandonment issues. “I grew up with a huge amount of shame and fear and abandonment on my shoulders from a very young age, and I think, you know, the way my mind rationalized [cheating], ‘Well, you know, I might as well do whatever I can to like run her off, ’cause she is going to find out what I am anyway and leave me anyway.’ ” In later adulthood, he became self-destructive in relationships. Hence the cheating.

James said his memories of his father beating him returned during rehab. “He beat my ass pretty good a bunch of times. I just remember, like, clinched teeth, strained-neck look on his face. My whole childhood, I never had a chance to be a kid … I was always scared.”

Jesse says one time his father was chasing him around in the dark and he tripped over a fence wire and snapped his wrist. His dad laughed and called him a dummy.

Whatever. It sounds like Jesse is still trying to rationalize this. Who cares what his dad did to him. I’m sure it was horrible and all, but in the end, it’s just an excuse. Oh, it’s not Jesse’s fault he banged a bunch of whores on his office couch while his wife was filming a movie. It’s his dad’s fault. We should all hate Jesse’s dad instead of Jesse even though there’s no proof any of this happened.
