Because Bam Margera was being racist

59-year-old Elizabeth Ray was charged with assault after she attacked Bam Margera with a baseball bat. Although she maintains her innocence (TMZ has photos of Bam being taken away in an ambulance), she tells the Philadelphia Daily News (via Popeater) that Bam is “a jackass just like his movies.” Ray claims Bam called her the N word during a verbal argument.

“He uses racial slurs, uses the n-word with black in front of it,” Ray, 59, who is black, said of Margera, 30, who is white.

“He called me the n-word,” Ray said, when asked if she had had any altercation with Margera on Saturday. She was arrested on S. Matlack Street in West Chester, the block on which she lives, after witnesses at the scene said that she had struck Margera in the head with a bat, according to West Chester Police.

Ray denied striking Margera with a bat or anything else about 2 a.m. Saturday next door to The Note (142 E. Market), a bar Margera co-owns. “I did not hit him, nobody hit him,” Ray said of Margera, a pro skateboarder and star of MTV’s “Viva La Bam.” When we asked Ray if she knew how Margera was injured, she said he wasn’t injured.

Meanwhile, Bam’s mom April is saying Ray attacked him from behind.

“She hit him over the head with a baseball bat, and she hit him while he was walking to his car. There was no fight. She’s just crazy and gives him a hard time all the time.”

Popeater notes that this isn’t the first time Ray and Bam have gotten into an argument. She’s previously complained about the noise from The Note bar which Bam co-owns. Ray has previously been convicted of robbery, and in 1992 was acquitted on an aggravated assault charge.

Steve-O says Bam was in the ICU but has since been released. He adds “I think he’s gonna be okay.”

One thing I don’t get is why Bam would call her a “black [N-word]”. Did he really have to add black in front of it? That’s like calling someone an ugly monster or a fat Britney Spears or a whorey Paris Hilton.

Below is Brandon Dicamillo’s Chinese Freestyle off of Bam Margera’s CKY series which some have called racist and others have laughed at. Innocent suburban white kid humor or something far more sinister? Film at 11! Or, um, below.

“One thing I don’t get is why Bam would call her a “black [N-word]“. Isn’t that repetitive? That’s like calling someone an ugly monster or a fat Britney Spears or a whorey Paris Hilton.”

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Do think that black is synonymous with N#gger? Did I happen upon a racist website or was that just an inadvertent dumb question?

Is black synonymous with n***er? You mean it’s not? There are other groups calling each other n***er AS MUCH as black people? Give me a break. Black people are not n***ers, but they sure use it a lot and black people keep reminding other people about the word and its connotations. When I hear that word and turn around, oh look, 99% of the time it’s coming from a black person. So, yes, when it comes to the MAJORITY of the time, that word is associated with black people, but does not mean they ARE that word. Stop being so… Read more »

REALLY? Are you that stupid? Of course it is synonymous with blacks! It always has been! That’s like saying kike or spic can be names used to describe black people. COME ON.

Not all black people call each other that word. You need to have a little reality check, because you’re an ignorant person. There is a difference between the two words. One ends with an A and the other ends with ER.

Your whiteness is showing.

Maybe it’s a cop out. Maybe he thinks N-words can be of any race, and she happened to be black and acting like one.

I personally resent people using the word at all, but at least people who draw that distinction can be fun to be around.

I didn’t even know there was a Jackass 3D, so I’m calling it a publicity stunt.

I completely agree with Fionachandoll; the blogger’s assertion that the use of word “black” in conjunction with the n-word is redundant implies that the two terms are synonymous. They aren’t. It’s also important to remember that in recent years non-blacks, especially those influenced by hip hop culture have begun to use the n-word with each other without necessarily having a racist intention. Margera probably used both “black” and the “n-word” together because he wanted to make sure that the woman understood that he was using the n-word in the traditional racist sense, as an insulting slur, rather than in any… Read more »

I find your post inadvertently funny, no offense. Just the thought of Bam Margera actually thinking about offending anyone in the “traditional” racist sense is hilarious. Bam is an idiot. He probably just strung those two words together because he was drunk. You think he’s really going to parse those words out in his mind before he speaks? You, along with Fionachandoll, also need to stop being so sensitive. Non-blacks have been using the word without racist intention. Good, so I can now start using this word to describe what and whom? What was it describing before and what does… Read more »

He said, she said, really. No excuse for anyone whacking someone in the head with a baseball bat…on the other hand, maybe it knocked some sense into Bam’s immature ass.

Silver lining to everything, one hopes. ;-)

does everyone here just take what this woman says at point blank??? she hit him over the head with a bat? why the hell did she have a bat??? just in case someone called her the n word??? no one is a little bit skeptical that a bat wielding woman with a previous record could be lying? i think we should be a little more rational before we start saying that someone needs a “bat over the head to knock some sense into them”. this lady knows shes in trouble and shes saying exactly what she needs to, to weasel… Read more »
