Aretha Franklin wants Halle Berry to play the younger version of herself in her upcoming biopic. She also wants a bunch of other Academy Award winners in her movie. Delusional? Maybe. But apparently everyone she’s mentioned is excited about the film.
Besides Berry, Franklin says she wants another Academy Award winner – Denzel Washington – to play her father, the late C.L. Franklin, a prominent Baptist minister and civil rights leader in Detroit.
Her wish list also includes Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard as Motown star Smokey Robinson.
The movie, for which Franklin says she’ll be reviewing the script next week, will be based on her autobiography, “Aretha: From These Roots,” a best-seller a decade ago.
Er, Aretha Franklin knows the camera only adds 10 pounds right? Where’s the other 190 going to come from? Eddie Murphy in fat suit?
Alright, alright. She wasn’t as fat when she was younger, but there would still have to be continuity in the film for when she’s older.
What’s the opposite of a “stretch?”
wow. what a cool honor. one historical woman to another.
