Katy Perry defends Russell Brand

On Friday, Russell Brand beat up several paparazzi after one of them tried to get an upskirt of his fiancee Katy Perry. He didn’t beat them up very well, mind you, because one of the photogs put him under citizen’s arrest.

Brand was traveling through Delta security with fiancee Katy Perry when photographers started trailing them. TMZ.com reports Brand grew agitated and allegedly pushed and hit several paparazzi. At that time, one of the photographers made a citizen’s arrest, which the LAX police helped facilitate.

Brand was taken into custody and brought to the LAPD Pacific Division station; it’s expected he’ll be booked on suspicion of battery.

After the incident, Katy Perry went on Twitter to defend Russell saying that’s what happens when you try to shove a camera up her dress.

Fair enough. On Monday, Russell went on Twitter to joke about the arrest. “Thanks for your sweet messages of support. After the tips I picked up in chokey I’m an infinitely more proficient criminal.” Then he posted the photo up top with the caption “Mum. Me and “chico” my new homey from the joint. I’ve been joined his “club”. Send condoms.”

I don’t know what the photog expected when he tried to stick a camera up Katy Perry’s dress. Roses and a thank you? If that was me with the camera, I’d fully expect to get my ass kicked. It’s like poking a rattlesnake and getting pissed that it bit you.
