Kim Kardashian quit Twitter

This heavily Photoshopped poster featuring Kim Kardashian for the Keep a Child Alive foundation was recently released. It’s part of an ad campaign thought up by Alicia Keys to raise awareness for World AIDS Day on December 1st.

According to the campaign, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Swizz Beatz, Khloe Kardashian and her sister Kim among others will temporarily quit Twitter until the charity raises $1 million.

“We’re trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from?” says Leigh Blake, co-founder of Keep a Child Alive. “It’s about love and respect and human dignity.”

What a great idea. Take a bunch of celebrities people can’t stand to listen to and hold their 140 character tweets hostage until $1 million is made. How can this fail? This is like threatening to kill Paris Hilton unless a million dollar ransom is paid. The only thing the kidnappers are going to get is a note that says “Cool story, bro!” and a picture of a spider.
