‘Skins’ Might Be Investigated for Child Pornography

Skins, a very watered down remake of the popular UK show of the same name, is being called “the most dangerous television show for children that we have ever seen” by, who else, the Parents Television Council. If you don’t know who these people are, they’re a bunch of humorless puritans sitting around in a white room flipping through channels praying to the heavens to stumble across a show that offends their sensibilities just so they can complain about it.

Looks like they found it as they’ve called on the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees and the Department of Justice to open an investigation for possible child pornography and exploitation on the show.

The MTV program features “sexual content” involving cast members as young as 15 and as old as 19 (only one cast member is 15 and she’s not an integral part of the story yet). The PTC cited 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode. “Won’t someone please think of the children!,” they cried at the end of the episode.

Taco Bell has already pulled out as an advertiser because of the controversy. Spokesperson Rob Poetsch tells THR, “Upon further review, we’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming.” Which is a nicer way of saying, “those douchebags at the PTC need to get laid.”

If you haven’t seen the much better, badly acted, but surprisingly endearing UK version, then you might not know that not only did it feature nudity, more profanity and a better story (so far), but none of it was censored. And amazingly, the kids there who watched it aren’t running around high on weed and ecstasy and having sex everywhere. I know, crazy, right?

That show is WAY over the top with subliminal sexual promiscuity & partying (i.e. 21 & over party) messages to little kids. It’s glorifying it to impressionable viewers, it is hard enough for kids 10-17 to not be tempted in real life by those things, making it look normal and amazingly fun on a TV show will most certainly pique curiosity even more.

Nothing subliminal about it. Watch the UK version. There’s more to the story than just sex, drugs and techno.

It will have nothing on the UK version, no matter what. As Johnny said, there’s a brilliant story to the UK version, the characters are genuinely great. However that was only the case for the first 2 seasons.

now that this show is getting recognition by boycotting, it will be the most watched…exactly how Jersey Shore got it’s popularity ratings.
