Adam Young Is a Gigantic, Gushy Weirdo to Taylor Swift

This story makes me nauseous. I spent 10 minutes with my finger pointed at my open mouth while doing an eye roll to indicate to everyone that walked by how much this made me want to yak. Then I giggled and went “aww” when they were out of earshot.

Anyway, in 2009, Taylor Swift wrote a song called Enchanted which was about her crush on Adam Young, the Ben Gibbard wannabe from Owl City. Two years later on Valentine’s Day yesterday, Adam responded. In song. Quick. Get me to the toilet. I think I’m going to be sick.

“The track is absolutely gorgeous and I’m so tremendously honored that Taylor would write such an elegant song and thereby offer a gracious nod in my direction. Needless to say, I was lost for words and utterly smitten. I couldn’t stop smiling … I figured such an eloquent gesture should be reciprocated by the most polite, heartfelt and respectful response I could possibly muster. It’s no secret that I’m a bit shy, so naturally music was the most articulate way of attempting such a sincere endeavor.”

Adam included a link of him performing his own version of Enchanted ending it with the lyrics, “And I just wish you knew/Taylor I was so in love with you.” Man, it’s like someone kicked my gag reflex in the nuts. I can’t believe it though. Did Adam out gush gushy Taylor Swift? Listening to them talk on the phone would be torture because it’d be 45 minutes of “You hang up. No, YOU hang up. (Giggling)”
