Kim Kardashian Does Harper’s Bazaar

Kim Kardashian is in the March 2011 edition of Harper’s Bazaar and her spread pays homage to Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra. Random. A few choice quotes from the interview:

– “I would absolutely characterize myself as ambitious,” she says. She credits her late father, lawyer Robert Kardashian, with instilling a work ethic in her. “I put myself on a budget. My parents raised us saying that at 18, we’d be cut off,” she explains.

– “I worked out once. I gained like 10 pounds. All the papers were like, Kim’s pregnant! I ate the nuts on the street corner, the hot dogs, the street meat. It was not a joke.”
“The city asked us not to tweet when we were there because the population growing around our store was becoming a fire hazard.” [Ed. note: Well… in her defense, visiting New York does that to you.]

– She recently filmed her first music video with Kanye West. “I can carry a tune, yeah. I have a cute little voice. I talked to people in the business, and they said, ‘This is what we do for fun. You go to the movies, you go shopping, why don’t you try what we do?’” And with no less than West as a collaborator, Kim might yet be a hit. Has Kanye ever come courting? “We are good friends.”

– “I never made a business off of the tape,” she continues in the manner of one used to mounting a swift defense. “I made a business off my family and our TV show. Before the tape came out, we were in the works to do our TV show, but people don’t know that. I thought there would be a lot of misconceptions about me, so it was not even a question that it had to be a family show.”

Yea, about that tape. She sort of did make a business off it because if she did the reality tv show without it, no one would know who the hell she was. Five people might recognize her as the girl standing next to Paris Hilton. So the tape was a pretty good primer. Normally people would do interviews or have some magazine do a bio on them, but a sex tape works way better. It’s more intimate. And by intimate I mean, boingoingoing. That was the sound of my boner by the way.
