Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver Split

I managed to spell Arnold Schwarzenegger without looking it up. Admit it. You’re proud of me. Anyway, after 25 years of marriage, the former governor and Maria Shriver have called it quits.

Meeting in 1977, when Tom Brokaw introduced the two at a charity tennis tournament, the two married in 1986 and had four children. Shriver even backed Arnold when allegations of him groping women during his film days surfaced.

Shriver already moved out of their Brentwood mansion and has been living apart for the past few weeks. From the LA Times,

“This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us,” the statement read. “After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship.

“We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public.”

Arnold going back into the dating scene should be interesting. Every time I imagine him hitting on a woman, all I can think of is his coverage of Carnival. If you looked up womanizer in the dictionary back then, you would have seen a picture of Arnold smacking some girl’s ass.
