Lindsay Lohan Will Only Serve 14 Days, Not in Jail

Lindsay Lohan plead no contest Wednesday to stealing a $2,500 necklace and abandoned her appeal in her DUI probation case. Lindsay is still required to serve 120 days in jail for her probation violation, but she will not have to serve additional time for the theft. Instead, she will be on three years probation.

Not only will she not get additional time, but the Sheriff’s Department may allow Lindsay to serve the 120 days at home with an electronic monitoring device. The 120 days will most likely be cut down to 14. During that time, Lindsay can’t leave her home even to do community service. In addition, Lindsay must complete psychological counseling and a shoplifters alternative class.

Once the 480 hours of community service is finished, her probation in the DUI case will terminate.

Interestingly enough, while Judge Stephanie Sautner doesn’t believe Lindsay’s problem is substance abuse, the L.A. County Probation Department believes “substance abuse is the root of the defendant’s problems,” citing that Lindsay failed an alcohol test a month after leaving the Betty Ford Clinic. Sautner says Lindsay is self-medicating for more deeply rooted issues.

Whatever. It doesn’t matter. You can give Lindsay a drug test every day but it won’t do anything. She already knows she can beat the system. Who else can have a 120 day jail sentence turned into 2 weeks of living at home? You’ll have more luck finding a leprechaun’s pot of gold than getting a celebrity in LA to serve a jail sentence.
