In the first Back to the Future, Marty McFly traveled back to 1955 to Hill Valley High School and introduced rock n’ roll with a rendition of “Johnny B. Good.”
At his annual New York fundraiser for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s, Michael J. Fox grabbed an identical Gibson ES-345 and performed the same song. Joining him on stage was Joan Jett. While he only mimicked playing in the movie, Fox has since learned to play the song for real.
Afterward, Fox played the same song again. Because his hand wouldn’t stop strumming. Yea, I’m going to hell.
