Jon Hamm told the most recent issue of Elle UK that he doesn’t understand why reality tv stars like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are popular. Specifically, he said, “Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f*cking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”
I always thought reality tv stars resonated with the public because they give normal people hope. If those borderline retards can make millions with no marketable talent or skill, then why can’t anyone?
In the same interview, Jon discussed the idea of modern beauty. Namely, why blonde, skinny women have become the standard of beauty while curvier women like co-star Christina Hendricks, who are more beautiful in real life, aren’t. “I think Christina Hendricks is a beautiful woman, but we live in a culture where the beauty model is significantly different from Christina’s silhouette. It shouldn’t be — those of us who live in real life realize, especially as we get older, that beauty isn’t just 22 years old, blonde, skinny with big tits. Those of us that have lived with and actually seen a real woman naked and made love realize there are many, many iterations.” Which is kind of strange considering Christina Hendricks is still well proportioned 36-year-old girl with even bigger tits.
Hamm then confessed he doesn’t get why people think he’s handsome. “I don’t even consider myself handsome,” he said. “When I look in the mirror I see my goofy-assed self from when I was a kid.”
If you’ve ever wanted to endear yourself to 90% of the female population, just ask yourself, “What would Jon Hamm say?” I’m pretty sure every woman who read this just went, “Dawwww!”
