Yesterday, rumor was NBC execs were looking to replace Ann Curry on the Today show. Insiders explained that NBC was unhappy with her numbers and that Matt Lauer did not like working with her. In fact, when Matt resigned with Today he was adamant on a new co-anchor.
TMZ reports that Meredith Vieira, who anchored the show for 6 years, was offered a contract two weeks ago to come back but she turned it down.
Fast forward to this morning during an interview with Steve Carell where the Today show put an interesting lower third for Ann Curry which read, “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow.” Oh, real subtle, NBC. While you’re at it, why don’t you just have someone run up and throw a pie in her face and then tell her to not let the door hit her on the way out.
