During Monday’s 700 Club “Bring It On” segment, Pat Robertson was asked what a man could do to regain some power in a relationship where his wife insults him and raises her hand to beat him.
Instead of just shaking his head, sighing and telling the guy to stop being a pussy, Pat suggested he become a Muslim so he could beat her. It was framed as a joke but as the segment went on, Pat said, “The man’s got to stand up to her and he can’t let her get away with this stuff. I don’t think we condone wife-beating these days but something has got to be done.” Finishing up the segment, he reiterated, “You can’t divorce her according to the Scripture, so I say, move to Saudi Arabia.”
He sort of said the last line jokingly but maybe he was scoffing, like, “My lord! You can’t beat women nowadays? What has the world come to.” I’m surprised he didn’t slap his co-host for trying to rein him in.
To be fair, I’m pretty sure what he meant to say was, “Rape the B*tch.”
