Volkswagen Prepares for Cries of Racism Over New Ad

Below is the ad Volkswagen is planning to run during the Super Bowl. It features a big white guy talking in a Jamaican accent telling everyone to be happy. Seems innocuous enough but Volkswagen is already preparing for everyone to call it racist. The Wall Street Journal has labeled it the Jar Jar Binks of 2013 while New York Times columnist Charles Blow says, “I don’t like it at all. It’s like blackface with voices.”

    It’s not belittling any race or ethnic group
    It’s not working with any negative stereotypes
