Model at 10 is a new feature I’m starting. The basic idea is that every once in a while at 10 pm, I’ll put up an interview with a model you may recognize from shoots, videos or commercials. This is sort of a test run so we’ll see how it goes.
First up is Carlye Denise. You may recognize her from Playboy (NSFW). She talks about her views on the modeling industry, favorite gigs and how often she and her friends get together for pillow fights.
How did you get into modeling. Were you discovered or did you go to a casting call?
I was actually discovered and have never done a casting call.
Were you apprehensive at all? Was your first thought “this is how people get into the news and not in a good way” or did they seem totally honest right off the bat?
Most of them we’re honest fro the get go, but “I trust you as far as I can throw you” so I always look up references, contacts, etc just to make sure things are legit.
Have you ever encountered anything shady when you first started out? Anything you can share?
Nothing too shady to have a story about, but I have ran into a few shady situations in modeling. Some people just like to hide little details that I know how to find ;)
Is there something you wouldn’t pose for? For example, a photographer wanted you to pose next to a tiger in a shoot but the leash was just a rope that a homeless guy uses for a belt. Would you do it?
HAHA, I would most likely try it.
Have you ever backed out of a gig?
Not necessarily, but when things get shady I always watch my back. So if I need or want out of something that I don’t feel comfortable doing then I WON’T do it.
What has been your favorite job?
My favorite has been working with Playboy. They always make me feel like a super star when shooting!
What’s it like working in the industry?
It’s actually really excited and fun! I feel that I have a strong enough personality to handle it.
What are your long term goals?
I am actually in college. I hope to become some kind of doctor one day. I also want to further my modeling career in the future.
How should a guy approach you? Say I went up to you asked you, “Did it hurt?” And you said, “What?” And I said, “When you fell.” Then I went into a rant about how girls are klutzy. Would that work?
No, you better finish with, when you fell…cause only angels fall from Heaven. ;)
Are there any photographers or magazines you dream of shooting with/being in?
Yes! Maxim, Sports Illustrated, wakeboarding magazine, etc.
When you’re on a shoot and you’re wearing something revealing, does everyone on set end up seeing you naked or topless at some point? Is it awkward?
Yes, I’m a model, what’s there to be scared of? I don’t feel awkward being natural & sexy.
How often do you get together with other models and just have pillow fights? I’d like to imagine pretty often.
Me too ;) I don’t do it as often as I would like to, but when summer rolls around then it’ll change.
