John Malkovich Saves Man With Slashed Throat

John Malkovich was in Toronto on Thursday when he saved a man who slashed his throat. According to the Toronto Star, Malkovich was smoking a cigarette on the street when a 77-year-old Jim Walpole from Ohio tripped on a curb and cut his throat on scaffolding. His wife, a retired nurse, said, “The way he was spurting I thought it was the carotid [artery] or the jugular [vein].”

A doorman who was standing nearby and also came over to help said Malkovich rushed over and applied pressure to the man’s throat with a scarf until the ambulance came. Doctors say an 8th of an inch further and he would have been in trouble. Doctors say that in every news report though.

Walpole said he didn’t know it was John Malkovich at the time. “I asked, ‘What’s your name?’ He said, ‘John.’ And I didn’t ask the last name ’cause I didn’t figure I’d remember it anyhow.” But now that he knows it was John Malkovich, he’s totally suing for assault with a deadly weapon. Haha, just kidding. This didn’t happen in America. Gloria Allred has no power there.

Jim actually said he doesn’t know if he’s ever seen any of Malkovich’s films but, “I’m going to watch all of them that I can.”
