Sacha Baron Cohen Will Not Play Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury’s doppelganger Sacha Baron Cohen will not be playing the famed singer in his biopic as he has pulled out.

Cohen and the remaining members of Queen had a difference in opinion on the direction of the movie. Cohen wanted a “gritty R-rated tell-all centered around the gifted gay singer.” Queen wanted a PG movie where they’d sweep all that under a carpet and white wash most of their history. At least that’s what I assume. Says Deadline,

Given the astonishing physical resemblance, it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing Freddie but Sacha. Cohen had brought in Peter Morgan to write and various directors including David Fincher and Tom Hooper to develop the project for himself. However, none were approved by the band.

In summation, the remaining members of Queen are idiots who probably don’t understand that their target demographic isn’t children under 13 as I’m sure anyone who listened to Queen is over the age of 18 by now and are well into their careers as depressed middle managers.

I think a great fit for the Freddie Mercury
role would be the singer Mika… they have a lot in common. And
extremely similar gesticulations. Mika admired Freddy and is his
inspiration in music. Not to mention they both lived in England and are
partly English, both lead singers of bands, both gay… and well just
listen and look up his videos :) and let me know what you think!
