Drake Is Mad at Rolling Stone for Bumping Him for Philip Seymour Hoffman

On Wednesday, Drake called Macklemore’s text to Kendrick Lamar after the Grammys, where he apologized for stealing his award, “wack as f**k.” Which it was. You can read about it here and how he made it worse here.

“I was like, ‘You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn’t deserve it, go get better — make better music,'” he tells Rolling Stone contributing editor Jonah Weiner. “It felt cheap. It didn’t feel genuine. Why do that? Why feel guilt? You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won?”

Drake notes that Grammy wins don’t always go to the artist who made the best album. “This is how the world works: He made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov, Kanye and Kendrick. Whether people wanna say it’s racial, or whether it’s just the fact that he tapped into something we can’t tap into. That’s just how the cards fall. Own your s**t.”

Later, Vulture said someone got their hands on the full profile and found a questionable quote Drake had about Kanye’s album Yeezus. He supposedly said, “There were some real questionable bars on there. Like that ‘Swaghili’ line? Come on, man. Fabolous wouldn’t say some s**t like that.”

Drake then ranted about Rolling Stone on Twitter saying he didn’t think he was on the record. In a deleted tweet he wrote, “I never commented on Yeezus for my interview portion of Rolling Stone. They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue.”

Then he got sort of mad that his cover was bumped for Philip Seymour Hoffman who had just died. “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Philip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil.” He also wrote, “They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue.”

Drake then swore off doing interviews for magazines. “I’m done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That’s the only way my message gets across accurately.”

Great news for me because now he’ll definitely be down to do an interview with this prestigious site. First question, “Show me your best cat gif.”
