Shaq is getting some criticism after posting an Instagram photo of himself mocking a disabled fan’s selfie.
The man, Jahmel Binion, suffers from ectodermal dysplasia which causes an inability to sweat, missing teeth and abnormal hair growth. Jahmel has been teased his entire life and he’s gotten used to it but when friends told him about Shaq’s Instagram photo he says, “I was kind of hurt because I’ve always looked up to him. I’ve watched Shaq play basketball since I was (inaudible), so I was like, why are you making fun of me? He is supposed to be this role model.”
Joining in on the mocking was Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke and rapper Wacka Flocka Flame. The picture, since been taken down, has inspired Jahmel to start an anti-bullying campaign called Hug Don’t Judge.
Fox2 contacted Shaq, the Utah Jazz and Wacka Flocka Flame’s record label about this on Twitter but no one responded.
Wow. Really? That’s surprising. Maybe you guys can try posting the question on Instagram and then tag them in the picture. I’m sure that’ll definitely get a response.
On Monday, Shaq posted a similar photo but with Shrek.
