After the departure of Edgar Wright and, with it, a unique take on Ant-Man, came rumors that Adam McKay (Anchorman) would take the helm. However, Variety reports that that’s not happening as McKay has pulled out of negotiations.
McKay was one of several possible replacements including Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the Millers) and Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad). A search for a director still continues as Marvel is determined to release the film on schedule on July 17, 2015.
Shooting is scheduled to start this summer but, as of yet, there’s still no director which means Paul Rudd is going to have to wing it. That may not be a bad idea. Who doesn’t want to see a 2 hours of Paul Rudd improving what it’d be like to be Ant-Man?
