Sometimes people don’t understand genius. Like with Macaulay Culkin and his pizza-themed band The Pizza Underground. They were booed off stage at the Dot to Dot festival in Nottingham, England on Sunday night.
The show at Rock City started off relatively well when Culkin opened up with the joke, “Hello Cleveland,” and started handing out pizzas to the front row.
The good will eroded quickly as soon as Culkin started banging on a pizza box and singing about pizza. Terribly, according to a few reports. By the end of the first song fans started booing. One fan recounted, “It just sounds awful. I can’t believe he is doing this. Why bother? It must go down well in America or something.” Whoa, whoa, guy. No need to bring America into this.
Pretty soon, a few people in the audience stopped booing and started throwing full pints of beer on stage which seems like a waste. Culkin agreed and asked, “Why are you throwing those? I’d rather drink them!”
He reached his tipping point when two of the beers hit him and his band member. “That’s the end of the show. Goodnight,” said Culkin packing his pizza box up and leaving.
Yep, that’s definitely a sentence I never thought I’d write.
