Ron Artest changed his name to Metta World Peace in the United States a while back. Now that he’s reached an agreement to play for China’s Sichuan Blue Whales, he wants to make his Chinese name “The Panda’s Friend” instead of “Ci Shiping” which is what Metta World Peace translates to. This is not weird at all.
I can’t tell if he’s trying to be a tiny bit patronizing or if he’s actually insane. Knowing Metta, it’s probably the latter and he might even show up to the first game riding on the back of an endangered giant panda while the entire arena just leans back and gasps.
