Miley Cyrus’ Homeless Friend Homeless by Choice, Has a Warrant

The homeless guy Miley Cyrus had accept her award for her is actually homeless by choice and has a warrant out for his arrest in his home state of Oregon. Jesse Helt, 22, Miley’s destitute date at the VMAs, is a struggling model who headed to LA from Salem, Oregon to do what most young, bright-eyed kids end up doing. Try to make it in Hollywood before realizing that it’s really hard and turning to gay porn and then homelessness. I’m not sure if he followed that exact timeline.

According to Jesse’s mother, he “chose” to “go it alone” and chase his dreams. However, she says he’s always welcome back home.

She said: ‘He wanted to be in Los Angeles and he had opportunities and he took them, but you know, he’s had his ups and downs like anybody else.

‘It was his choice, he was always welcome, he could always come back any time. If he needed help, I’d help him, we help one another,’ she added.

Mother Helt said her son received his Good Enough Diploma from Chemeketa Community college before moving out and was stunned to see his appearance on the VMAs. Prior to this, he had once told her he was living in a bush. Was it a nice bush though?!

‘This will change his life, absolutely. This will turn things around for him and I believe God is the one that is doing it, God is making a difference and Jesse believes that.

‘He’s a good kid. He was nervous up there on stage, but that’s how it is when you have a passion for something like he does. Somebody’s helping him and he wants to help someone too.’

After his appearance on the VMAs, Jesse called up his mother and said he was going home. Granted, that may pose a problem considering there’s a warrant out for his arrest in Oregon.

Records indicate Jesse, 18 at the time, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass and burglary in 2010 after breaking into the apartment of a man who had been selling him bad weed. The warrant was issued after he violated probation.

Polk County Director of Community Corrections Martin Silbernagel said Tuesday officials are trying to locate Helt and arrest him. He said Helt repeatedly failed to meet with his probation officer.

“He doesn’t make himself available to community supervision, and he takes off,” Silbernagel said.

This is why I do a background check on all the homeless people I try to help out. I want to know that they deserve these 25 cents and half-eaten bagel I’m giving them.
