Ryan Murphy basically launched his career with the hyper-sexual drama Nip/Tuck before moving on to Glee and American Horror Story. It seemed like he was going to make his long-awaited return to his Nip/Tuck days with a new HBO series, Open, starring Anna Torv, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jaimie Alexander, Michelle Monaghan, Scott Speedman and Wes Bentley. The series is described as “a multicharacter exploration of the complex, ever evolving landscape of sexuality, monogamy and intimacy in relationships.”
As luck would have it, HBO nixed the idea because they obviously don’t want us to see Anna Torv getting freaky with Michelle Monaghan in an airplane bathroom.
The decision is somewhat surprising given Murphy’s hit-making track record. In the pilot, co-written by Lauren Gussis, Torv was to play a yoga instructor in a long-term relationship with Leigh’s character, while Monaghan played a gynecologist whose marriage and sexuality come into question after an airplane bathroom fling with Torv’s yoga instructor.
What kind of monster are you, HBO?! Why would you keep this from us? I hate you! *slams door*
