Running back Ray Rice was canned by the Baltimore Ravens today (and then suspended indefinitely by Roger Goodell), shortly after video of Rice punching out his then-fiancée, now wife Janay Palmer in the elevator of Atlantic City’s Revel Casino, on February 15, 2014.
In March, a grand jury indicted Rice on third-degree aggravated assault. Rice married Palmer later that month. For the assault, Rice was suspended for the first two games of the 2014 NFL season, a laughably light penalty for which NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was widely ridiculed.
Though Rice is out of the NFL for now, fans can see him in October in his first bout with the CEFL, the Casino Elevator Fighting League. Tickets are expected to sell out fast because of limited room within the elevator.
