Russian pop duo t.a.T.u. (Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina) spent the better part of their careers making out with each other in schoolgirl outfits. Turns out they weren’t gay, but they still preached tolerance.
“Our slogan is to love and it’s not important whom to love,” said Volkova in 2006. “We want to say that a boy can love a boy and a girl can love a girl. If all people would love each other, it would be easier to live in this world. If people are led by hatred and evil, nothing good would happen from this.”
Looks like Russia has done a good job of indoctrinating Yulia Volkova as she’s done a 180 on this whole gay thing. Well, a 270. In a recent interview, she said she would probably go all Russia on his son of he was gay.
“Yes, I would condemn him, because I believe that a real man must be a real man,” she said. “God created man for procreation, it is the nature. The man for me is the support, the strength of… I won’t accept a gay son.”
Volkova has standards. Double standards.
She was quick to add that her views aren’t at odds with her previous work; lesbians are a more acceptable form of sexuality than gay men, she claims, because women are “aesthetically nicer”.
“Two girls together – not the same thing as the two men together,” she continued. “It seems to me that lesbians look aesthetically much nicer than two men holding their hands or kissing.”
Has she seen lesbians? Someone should tell her they don’t all look like her and her friend. Hell, sometimes I’d rather watch two guys tongue each other than some of the women I see doing it.
Anyway, on to the part you knew was coming. Volkova says she isn’t homophobic. How could she be? Some of her best friends are gay. Of course, she says that right after saying she doesn’t want her son to be a “f*g.”
“I want to say that I’m not against gays, I just want my son to be a real man, not a f*g,” she said on a Russian television show. “I have many gay friends. I believe that being gay is all still better than murderers, thieves or drug addicts. If you choose out of all this, being gay a little better than the rest.”
Gays being better than murderers, thieves and drug addicts? Wow, what an unpopular opinion. She’s so brave for sharing that.
