‘August: Osage County’ Actor Misty Upham Found Dead in Ravine

A body found in a ravine in a Seattle suburb has been confirmed to be that of Misty Upham who’s best known for her roles in Frozen River and August: Osage County. She was first reported missing October 6, a day after her family told police she was suicidal. Her father said she had stopped taking her meds for anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Upham’s uncle, Robert, and the organizer of a search party that went looking for her three days ago found the body on Thursday afternoon. Cause of death has yet to be determined.

Friend and filmmaker Tracy Rector has criticized cops for their lack of help, “the family wants everyone to know that the Auburn police did not help with this situation at all. They refused to help. When she disappeared on Oct. 5, the family knew something was seriously wrong — it was out of character for her to be gone so long without being in touch — and they repeatedly went to the police, who insisted there was no cause for concern.” According to THR, this was due to a history of hostility between Auburn police and the Muckleshoot Reservation.
