Eddie Murphy Back on ‘SNL’ After 30-Year Absence

You know what’s happened since Eddie Murphy left Saturday Night Live? Nothing good. The show sucks with intermittent periods of significance. Since the 1970s though, that show has been on a slow trend towards irrelevancy. Name 5 actors from that show today. Now name 5 actors from its heyday. Yea, Eddie Murphy sure as hell was one of them.

The King returns to show the common folk how sketch comedy really gets done. He comes back for the show’s 40th anniversary special that airs February 15th. Why did it take so long?

It’s just timing. It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it … They’re actually having a 40th anniversary I think in two weeks. I’m going to that, and that’ll be the first time I’ve been back since I left.

No word on what’ll he do. He could stand on set and just laugh though, and that would make it worth watching. SNL should shoot for the moon and make themselves newsworthy again by having Murphy bring back Buckwheat.
