Jon Stewart Leaving ‘The Daily Show’

Well, this day ended lame. Jon Stewart took control of The Daily Show for 16 years and now he’s decided to give up the reins. But, where will the millenials get their news now?? Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless confirmed the news with a statement, probably read in front of a drab background and very nervously.

For the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart. His comedic brilliance is second to none. Jon has been at the heart of Comedy Central, championing and nurturing the best talent in the industry, in front of and behind the camera. Through his unique voice and vision, The Daily Show has become a cultural touchstone for millions of fans and an unparalleled platform for political comedy that will endure for years to come. Jon will remain at the helm of The Daily Show until later this year. He is a comic genius, generous with his time and talent, and will always be a part of the Comedy Central family.

Comedy Central tweeted the same statement out with a simple “Thank you Jon.”

Hard to believe that 16 years ago, Stewart took over for Craig Kilborn, who sorry Craig, no one remembers. The show went on to win 20 freaking Emmys.

Stewart hasn’t said what he’ll do next, maybe get deeper into film production. Stewart produced the recent Rosewater movie which definitely needs to be watched. 74% on Rotten Tomatoes! Oh well, guess we’ll revert into a generation devoid of current political knowledge.
