‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ with Will Smith Returns. Reboooot!

Fresh Prince of Bel Air

“Now, this is a story all about how…” If you remember those words, you remember The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The fish out of water story featuring Will Smith ran in the early 90’s. Smith played a kid out of Philadelphia sent to live with relatives in Bel-Air. Smith gained his massive popularity off that show. Second most popular thing from that show was the Carlton Dance.

The show never broke the top 10 at the time. However, Hollywood can’t come up with new ideas. So, they’re rebooting the show. Will Smith is involved, but sadly, not as an actor. He’ll executive produce the show and a new Will Smith and Carlton Banks will be cast. Very scant details exist as TVLine reports:

According to multiple sources, Smith’s production shingle, Overbrook Entertainment, is in the very early stages of developing a present-day Fresh Princereboot that puts a new spin on the fish-out-of-water tale while maintaining the spirit of the original series…

Overbrook will begin shopping it around in the coming weeks. Smith would serve as an EP alongside his Overbrook producing partners James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

This whole reboot/revival thing is getting quite large. Full House, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hawaii Five-O. Does Mayim Bialik need a job? They can bring back Blossom also, and recreate the actual 90’s NBC primetime lineup that featured The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Blossom back to back.
