Two Arrested in UCLA Sorority Girl Andrea DelVesco’s Death

We may get answers on what happened to Andrea DelVesco. Last night, LAPD arrested Eric Marquez and Alberto Medina, both 22, in connection with her suspicious death.

The UCLA senior was found dead in a burning apartment off-campus on Monday. More ominously, DelVesco was due in court this Friday to face drug dealing charges. Her apartment had “working smoke alarms” and no security bars on the windows to prevent her from escaping any fire. Gee, look suspicious?

Detectives with the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division used forensic evidence and witnesses’ statements to link Eric Marquez and Alberto Medina, both 22, to Andrea DelVesco’s death, the LAPD said in a statement.

Medina was arrested Saturday at his home in Fresno, the LAPD said. Marquez was arrested a day later near his apartment in Westwood.

We’ll get our first look at the suspects, in jail garb, come Tuesday.

When reached by phone Monday evening, Medina’s father said his son had a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning. Jose Medina said he spoke with his son Monday, but declined to comment further, citing the pending court date.

“He told me that he didn’t do it,” he said.

Right, well no one admits that they did it…so soon. No one breaks that fast.

Meanwhile, Marquez’s family feels the same way. What? Noo…not my baby!

Marquez’s mother said her son was a hardworking student who wanted to become a doctor.

“He’s a perfect son, a perfect person,” Marquez’s mother said in Spanish, her younger son translating. “A perfect boy.”

How did the two allegedly end up at DelVesco’s apartment? Marquez goes to UCLA, but Medina goes to Fresno State. The Bakersfield Californian reports,

Fresno State confirmed Monday evening that Medina is a junior at the university with a double major in social work and pre-psychology. He enrolled in the fall 2011 from McFarland High School. UCLA said Marquez is a fifth-year undergraduate student at the Westwood campus, majoring in biology.

Two scenarios here. Drug dealing cover up by Medina and Marquez to protect the higher-ups. Or threesome gone wrong.
