Netflix Brings Back ‘Gilmore Girls’

Great news for fans of mother-daughter duo, Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, which seems like it’s everyone, Netflix is bringing Gilmore Girls back for four 90 minute episodes.

Netflix is working with the show’s original creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino, who were not involved in the final season of the show when it aired on the WB back in 2007. And it looks like everyone will be coming back, most importantly Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson.

Netflix is the greatest thing to happen to canceled or otherwise unfinished TV shows. I was a major fan of Veronica Mars in high school and those feelings of injustice were so strong, though also sort of quick to fade… I still haven’t seen the movie.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2009, Sherman-Palladino discussed the possibility of a movie,

“If I thought it was definitely not going to happen, I would say, ‘No, it’s definitely not going to happen.’ I would do that for you, my friend. But I don’t want to say that. Because I think that the beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family relationship shows is, you never really run out of story. You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.”

If you’re like me and haven’t already, buckle down and finish watching the television show in time for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls or we’ll all be so out of the loop.
