Britney Spears can’t sell out her Vegas show, “Piece of Me”. Now that Céline Dion has returned it’s next to impossible. Spears has had poor ticket sales ever since she began her residency at Planet Hollywood in 2013.
Insiders say that while she’s got off to a good start, being a star from the 1990s and 2000s has not helped her. Fans of her during that era go to Vegas not for shows, but for the EDM scene and DJs.
Says another source, “She can fill arenas, but a residency is another beast. A residency is different from a worldwide tour. Those seats have to be filled every night, and that’s difficult to do with a younger fan base.”
Meanwhile, there’s another prevailing theory, from me of course. It’s that people realize Britney isn’t the vocal powerhouse that Céline is and no one wants to see her wiggle and writhe around on stage like she was a sad mom trying to recapture her youth during Wednesday happy hours.
Music is like Boxing, you have to go in with a strategy, what you wanna win, and when you wanna loose.
I like your theory. Her fans are basically early 30’s Millennials with young families. They aren’t really going to Vegas very much.
Uh! Ask her publicist, who knew she was there in Vegas.
