Get Ready for 2 Hours of Cutaway Gags: Seth MacFarlane Says ‘Family Guy’ Movie Is Coming Soon

The rumor mill has been buzzing with Family Guy film rumors for years. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that this show is older than your average One Direction fan, with a whopping 14 seasons.

Back in 2012, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane made it sound like the film was gonna be in theaters in 2013, when comparing what they wanted to do with the movie to what had been done with The Simpsons Movie.

“It’s a story they probably could’ve done on TV. There could’ve been an episode that had that plotline. That’s the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on the answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV.”

It’s amazing to me to hear that the creator of Family Guy, whose joke arsenal includes extended giant chicken fight scenes, drawn out cutaways to country singer Conway Twitty, random obscure references, and a baby trying to kill his mom with everything from simple traps to firearms, is that concerned with anything having a logical reason. If MacFarlane’s Twitter is anything to go by, that logical reason is gonna be taking some physical form in the near future.

Alright MacFarlane. Show us what you got.
