White Collar Crime: Bar Refaeli and Mom Suspected of Tax Evasion

Taxes are fucking terrifying. Never learned how to do them, likely never will. If I didn’t have a family friend as an accountant, I would be floundering to figure out how to possibly figure out how to file taxes as a freelancer. And it’s undeniably important to file your taxes accurately (especially if you’re up to any other fishy business) because it could land you a considerable stint prison.

Bar Refaeli, one of the world’s highest paid supermodels, was arrested in Israel for allegedly lying about her living situation to limit the amount of her taxable income. White collar crime is soooooooo in.

Since Bar is essentially international royalty, it isn’t surprising to see this amount of gifts she received in exchange for…. well, being her. Israel’s Tax Authority reported about the supermodel:

She’s further suspected of accepting free perks to the tune of “over a million shekels”  — or more than $256,000 — in the form of luxury apartments registered in her mother and brother’s names.

Apartments are only the tip of the iceberg as the model also received luxury vehicles as a form of payment for being photographed inside of them.

The model’s mother was arrested for her role in her daughter’s alleged offenses, but is also under similar suspicions for tax evasion of her own income.

Moral of the story: do your taxes the right way
