Dark Story Unfolds in the Recent Brooklyn Gang Rape Case

Gang rape on its own is an all too common occurrence especially in the teenage male sector of society. Actually, statistically speaking, when a teenage male rapes, he is far more likely to do so in the company and support of other males of his age bracket.

Last Thursday night, five alleged fuckwads were walking through Brooklyn’s Osborn playground where they wielded a gun scaring away a father who had been drinking there with his 18-year-old daughter.

It sounds fucked up. It is fucked up, but as is the fucked up circumstantial nature of many alleged rapes, the story took an even more horrific turn when other details about the night in question came to light.

First detail that sounded a little off–when the father ran off, it took him nearly 20 minutes to find and alert a police officer, which according to Vice:

was odd because the neighborhood where the alleged attack took place was lined with both residential units and businesses.

All the suspects under the age of 18 took one of the most common defenses in the history of rape culture: she wanted it and I gave it to her. When a New York Times reporter met with the mother and brother of one of the suspects, both claimed to have proof in a video that the act was consensual. The video seems neither here nor there when a male voice in the video says:

If you said yeah, it’s lit, like, you know what I mean.

Last time I checked college orientations didn’t list ‘it’s lit’ as a bullet point for acceptable forms of consent. In another effort to blame the victim the voice surmises:

I could tell you a freak.

She could damn well be freaky enough to be in a freak show, doesn’t she wants anyone’s dick anywhere near her.

The final and largely unexpected twist coming from the mouths of the suspects was that allegedly the five males had found their 18-year-old victim in the park while she was engaging in lascivious behavior with her father. Whether the incestual relationship was based in fact or not, it does not warrant rape, but the foil wrinkles deeper when the father’s suspicious timing in finding the cops could allege insidious involvement on his part.
